Organization: Subsidiaries

The Subsidiaries page in the Security Posture Management application [ Organization ➔ Subsidiaries] is a component of Enterprise Analytics. It displays either a historical heatmap of security ratings or risk vector grades at your organization’s parent company and any subsidiaries with a My Subsidiary subscription.

• Monitor the parent and subsidiary companies in your organization–all in one place.
• Identify trends in the security performance of a subsidiary and how they impact a parent company’s rating.

Actions

Get Subsidiary Data

Export the subsidiary data as a CSV or PDF.

Instructions:

1. Refer to the filters and sorting options to configure the page.
2. Select the Export link at the top-right of the Organizational History Breakdown.

Use Subsidiary Improvement

Subsidiary Improvement presents a multi-step improvement plan that projects how much a parent company’s rating could improve if all findings from the indicated risk vectors at a given subsidiary were remediated.

Instructions: Select the View Subsidiary Improvement button at the bottom-right.

View Subsidiary Details Sheet

View a subsidiary’s security rating, company info, security ratings changes & highlights, and risk vector grades.

Instructions: Select a subsidiary from the subsidiaries list on the right.

Interpreting the Page

The parent company's history is displayed at the top of the heatmap, with subsidiaries listed below. Sort or apply filters to get a better understanding of how subsidiary security posture affects the parent rating.

Filters

Dropdown Filter

This dropdown filter at the top of the Organizational History Breakdown filters subsidiary performance either by security rating or risk vector.

• Bitsight Rating = Monthly ratings.
• Risk Vector = Monthly risk vector grades, including both ratings-impacting and non-ratings impacting risk vectors.

Show Unsubscribed Companies

Display subsidiaries by My Subsidiary subscription usage.

• Enabled = Show unsubscribed companies.
• Disabled = Hide unsubscribed companies.

Time Period

Define the time period when findings occurred and the subsidiaries’ performance during the last 6 months or 12 months.

Sorting

Use the Sort button at the top of the subsidiaries list to sort subsidiaries:

Alphabetical

Sorts alphabetically.

Current Performance

Sorts from best to worst or from worst to best.

Change Over Time

Sorts by change over time:

• Change Shown = Worst to Best (Negative change over the past month)
• Change Shown = Best to Worst (Positive change over the selected time period)
• Change from Last Month = Worst to Best (Negative change over the past month)
