AI Mode Overview

What is Bitsight AI Mode?

Bitsight AI Mode lets security teams ask questions and run multi-step analysis instead of gathering data manually across reports. It combines your Bitsight data with threat intelligence to produce findings and recommendations.

Two ways to work with AI Mode

Chat

Chat answers questions about your security posture, risks, or vendor exposure, using context from your data. More specific questions produce more specific answers.

Use Chat for:

• Ad-hoc investigation and questions
• Exploring a specific area of concern
• Getting context before a meeting or decision
• Drilling into findings across your organization or supply chain

Agentic workflows

An agentic workflow is a preconfigured analysis that runs multiple steps automatically. You select a workflow, and it pulls together your data and threat intelligence to answer a defined question. Each result states the finding, why it matters, and what to do about it.

Use agentic workflows for:

• Routine security reviews with multiple steps
• Vendor risk assessments and prioritization
• Attack surface analysis and exposure mapping
• Emerging threat triage and impact analysis

Getting started with Bitsight AI mode

Instructions

To use Chat:

1. In the Command Center, select AI Mode.
2. Enter a question about a current security concern.
3. Review the response.

To run an agentic workflow:

1. In the Command Center, select AI Mode.
2. Select the agentic workflow you want to run.
3. If the workflow asks for a selection, choose it from the drop-down menu.
4. Select Run Agent, and review the results.

Opt out of AI mode

1. Navigate to Account > Account Preferences
2. Under the AI Mode header, you can select which AI features you want to use.
3. Unselect Chats, Agentic Workflows, and / or Skills to opt out of any or all features.
4. Click the Update button to confirm.

Best practices

• Be specific in Chat. More detail produces more targeted results
• Use agentic workflows for recurring tasks
• Review findings and recommendations before acting on them
• Use Chat to explore and validate. Use agentic workflows for standardized, repeatable analysis

Limitations and considerations

• AI Mode analyzes only the data in your Bitsight account, so results depend on how complete that data is.
• Recommendations draw on Bitsight data and threat intelligence. They don't reflect your internal policies or business context.
• Bitsight updates agentic workflows over time as its AI capabilities change.
• Bitsight AI features are under active development. Capabilities, behavior, and available data may change. This article describes current support, so check back for updates.
