How to interpret the Monthly Portfolio Performance report
Reading the report
There are three tabs on the Monthly Portfolio Performance Report:
- Rating: summarizes your portfolio performance in the last 3, 6, or 12 months
- Risk Vector: filters results to focus on one risk vector over the last 3, 6, or 12 months
- Company: review rating and risk vector data for a single company over the last 3, 6, or 12 months.
This report only analyzes companies for which you have a Total Risk Monitoring subscription. Subscriptions without access to grade information are not included.
The Rating tab
This tab displays a chart and table summarizing the distribution of security ratings over time. This tab can be filtered by:
- time period: select between a 3, 6, or 12 month period
- industry: select which industries are included in your report
- folder: select which folders are included in your report
- tier: filter companies based on their level of importance in your portfolio
The top left of the report displays the number of companies in your portfolio, the average rating across those companies, and the standard deviation of the dataset.
The Rating Categories pie chart shows the percentage of companies in the report that fall into the Basic, Intermediate, and Advanced rating categories. Hovering over a slice of the chart displays the rating category, number of companies in the category, and percent of the total companies it represents.
The Average Rating line chart shows the average rating of your portfolio over time, including the minimum and maximum rating in your portfolio for comparison. Hovering over a point on the line displays the minimum, maximum, and average rating for that month.
On this tab, the Portfolio Performance table contains all filtered companies with their rating from the first day of each month. This table can be filtered by rating category, company, and best or worst performance in addition to the other filters on the tab.
The Risk Vector Tab
The Risk Vector tab allows you to focus on a single risk vector over time. It can be filtered by:
- time period: select between a 3, 6, or 12 month period
- industry: select which industries are included in your report
- folder: select which folders are included in your report
- tier: filter companies based on their level of importance in your portfolio
The top left of the report displays the number of companies in your portfolio, the number of companies with an A grade in the selected risk vector, and the number of companies with less than an A grade in the selected risk vector.
This tab contains two circle charts, one showing the percentage of companies in your portfolio that increased their grade in the selected risk vector and one showing the percentage that decreased it. Hover over the text at the bottom of each chart to see a list of these companies.
On this tab, the Portfolio Performance table contains monthly ratings for all filtered companies with their rating in your chosen risk vector on the first day of each month. This table can be filtered by risk vector grade and company name in addition to the other filters on the tab.
The Company Tab
The Company tab displays rating and risk vector data for a company in your portfolio. It can be filtered by:
- company: select a company from your Total Risk Monitoring portfolio
- time period: select between a 3, 6, or 12 month period
- risk vector(s): select which risk vectors you want to include in the report
Selecting a company populates its industry, tier, and any folders it’s in beneath the filters on the right.
The top left of the report displays the selected company’s security rating, the number of risk vectors without change in the selected time period, the number of risk vectors with a grade of A, and the number of risk vectors with a grade below A. A line chart shows changes in the company’s rating over time. Selecting a point on the line chart displays the rating for that month.
The Active Months table shows which risk vectors have experienced a change in the selected time period. If there are no changes, the table does not populate. Positive changes are indicated with a green arrow symbol pointing up; negative changes are indicated with a red arrow symbol pointing down.
The Risk Vector Performance table contains a list of all risk vectors and their grades during the selected time period.
