Request to add a company to the Bitsight inventory

If a company is not listed in the company search results, you can submit a request to add that company to the Bitsight inventory. Select Request company at the bottom of the search results page, or the Company Requests page [settings.png Settings ➔ Company Requests].

Requirements

  • The company’s assets must be online and they must resolve to a unique website of the company in question or publicly registered on the company’s name.

Permissions

  • Any user may submit company requests.
  • Only Admin, Group Admin, and Portfolio Manager may submit company requests in bulk (Multiple Request).

Instructions

How do I request a single company?

  1. Open the Company Requests page in Settings, or select Request company at the bottom of the company search results.
  2. Enter the URL or domain name associated with the company.
  3. Submit the request.

Bitsight sends you an email notification when the report is ready.

To submit a single request through the API, use POST: Request to Add a Company to the Bitsight Inventory [/v2/company-requests]

How do I request multiple companies?

Bitsight can add several companies at once from a CSV file. Only Admin, Group Admin, and Portfolio Manager users can submit bulk requests.

  1. Create a CSV file with a column that lists the company domain names.
  2. Select Company Requests in Settings, then select View Requests.
  3. Select Request New Company, then select Multiple Request.
  4. Select Select File, and then choose your CSV file.
  5. Select Next Step.
  6. Choose a Subscription, a Folder, and a Tier to organize the companies in your CSV file.
  7. Select Submit.

Bitsight automatically subscribes you to companies that are already in the Bitsight inventory.

A summary of your request will be sent via email, along with a notification when new companies are added.

To submit multiple requests through the API, use POST: Request Multiple Companies to be Added to the Bitsight Inventory [/v2/company-requests/bulk]

How long does a company request take?

Processing time varies by request. Check your email or the Company Requests page for updates.

How do I track my company requests?

When a company has been added to the Bitsight inventory as an active company, you can add it to your portfolio. To get an email when a company becomes available, enable Company Requests notifications in your email preferences.

Use the Company Requests page to check the status of your requests or to submit new ones. The page shows requests from you and from other users in your organization.

To view requests through the API, use GET /v2/company-requests.

Once your request is complete and the company has been added as an active company to the Bitsight inventory, enable Company Requests notifications to be notified of its availability via email and you’ll then be able to add the company to your portfolio. The overall process to generate the report takes 3-10 days.

You may periodically check your email for updates or use the Company Requests page to track the status of your request or to request a new company. This page includes all requests submitted by you or by other users in your organization.

In some cases, a company cannot be added to the Bitsight inventory. See mapping scenarios.

GET: Company Requests [/v2/company-requests]

  3. If the domain redirects, use the forwarded domain. Search the Bitsight inventory for the new domain before you resubmit the request.
  4. Confirm that the company’s assets are online.

  • If I choose to add a company to the portfolio, will they be notified that BitSight has started to monitoring them? I want to pull a report on a company that is not available from the search bar, but don't want them to be notified that we are pulling information for business confidentiality reasons. Please advise.

  • Hello Liz, great question! At this time, BitSight will not notify who is monitoring them due to contractual and confidentiality reasons. Thank you very much for your feedback and have a great day!
