Peer Comparison: Benchmarking – Bitsight Knowledge Base

The Benchmarking page in the Security Performance Management application [ Peer Comparison ➔ Benchmarking] features the Peer Analytics benchmarking tool that lets you benchmark your organization, or if you have a My Subsidiary subscription, you can benchmark your subsidiaries.

Benchmarking allows you to compare either your organization or subsidiary against a peer group for a variety of reasons, such as:

Monitoring competitors.
Tracking leaderboard rank.
Staying on top of your peer group.
Keeping an eye on my subsidiaries.
Reporting to stakeholders.
Tracking security metrics.

Compare against any number of companies in your portfolio or switch to view the same group of peers against a different subsidiary of the by changing the selected company.

You must be subscribed to a company to add it to a benchmark group. Make sure you are subscribed to the company before trying to add it.

The following actions are available at the top-right of the Benchmarking page:

Edit Group
Change Group
Reports

Edit Group

You can use these actions to remove or edit benchmarking companies.

The Edit Group option allows you to edit the benchmark group.

Use the Search Subscribed Companies, Folder or Groups search bar to search and add companies to the group.
The Details on the left includes the following benchmark group information and configurations:

Created By

The user who created this group.

Group Name

The name of this group.

Description

A description of this group.

Benchmark Group Goal

Benchmarking goals.

Options:

Monitor competitors
Track leaderboard rank
Stay on top of peer group
Keep an eye on my subsidiaries
Reporting to stakeholders
Track security metrics
Other

Other Goal

A custom goal if the Benchmark Group Goal field is set to Other.

Share Group

If enabled, other users can set this group as their group. Learn more about group access.

Delete

Delete this group.

Change Group

The Change Group dropdown allows you to create a new group or select from the available options.

Reports

Compromised Systems Details: Export this benchmark group’s Compromised Systems details (.csv).
Diligence Details: Export this benchmark group’s Diligence details (.csv).
Export Page PDF: Export a PDF of this page.
File Sharing Details: Export this benchmark group’s File Sharing details (.csv).
Peer Group List: Export a list of the companies in this benchmark group (.csv).

Sometimes instead of a grade, the Grade column shows a slash. This can occur when:

There is insufficient data to grade the risk vector, resulting in an N/A grade. You can verify that this is the case by checking the Peer Group Ranking column, which reads "Not Qualified for Peer Group" if so.
The company is subscribed to with a Risk Management subscription.

Compromised Systems

Compromised Systems risk vectors:

Avg Event Duration (Days): The average duration of all events.
Company: The name of this company.
Events in Past Year: The number of events in the past year.
Grade: This company’s grade for this risk vector.
Peer Group Ranking: A description of this company’s ranking.
Rank: This company’s ranking in the group.

Diligence

Diligence risk vectors:

Company: The name of this company.
[Finding Grade] Good: The number of this company’s GOOD finding grades for this risk vector.
[Finding Grade] Fair: The number of this company’s FAIR finding grades for this risk vector.
[Finding Grade] Warn: The number of this company’s WARN finding grades for this risk vector.
[Finding Grade] Bad: The number of this company’s BAD finding grades for this risk vector.
Grade: This company’s grade for this risk vector.
Peer Group Ranking: A description of this company’s ranking.
Rank: This company’s ranking in the group.
